- Story Text: Hopeful Algerians gathered in Marseille on France's Mediterranean coast on Sunday (June 13) to watch their side's World Cup group C match against Slovenia.
But their hopes ended in bitter disappointment after the Algerians were reduced to 10 men when Abdelkader Ghezzal was sent off in the 71st minute.
It got worse when goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi gifted Slovenia a goal, fumbling Robert Koren's harmless looking shot six minutes later.
Until then, the Algerians had been marginally the better side but they created few chances.
In Marseille, fan Amir Louahche said: "The first half went well, we expected to score at least one goal in the first half but that did not happen and in the second half the players were too tired. They played well but they need review the tactics and we will see how the team does in the next match."
Mohamed Bouatrous added: "We are disappointed with the defeat against Slovenia. We have two more matches: England and the US, Allah willing - we will win, we are Algerians we never give up, we have two more matches, we can win, Allah willing." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
