- Story Text: A military aircraft flew home the bodies of two Romanians on Tuesday (January 22) who were among the 38 foreign hostages killed at an Algerian desert gas plant last week.
After a short religious service after the plane landed at Otopeni air base in Bucharest, the bodies were taken to Ploiesti for post mortem examination. They were then to be moved to their villages for the funerals.
Families of the two workers were present at the air base for their loved ones' arrival.
Both were family men, one with a six-year-old child, the other with a pregnant wife.
Three Romanians who survived the attack had already returned home.
Thirty-eight civilians and 29 militants were killed during military operations to retake the Tigantourine plant near the town of In Amenas, Algeria's Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal said on Monday (January 21).
The plant had been stormed by Islamist militants. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
