- Story Text: In Algiers, the distribution of land to farm-workers is proceeding rapidly under the government's "agricultural revolution".
On Friday (12 August), the Wali (Prefect) of Algiers, Colonel Slimane Hoffman, gave land titles to 233 fellaheen (farm workers), who live near Bou Ismail, about 28 miles (45 km) from Algiers.
The fellaheen are grouped into co-operatives to work the land which is often taken from the estates of former French settlers.
State farm lands account for more than 75 per cent of Algeria's agricultural production.
