SYNOPSIS: Zambia, playing in the all white strip form right to last, will need to win the return lag in Lusaka on June 26, to keep alive their hopes of being among the final eight.
The Algerians opened the scoring after two minutes with this shot by Ali Messauod.
The rest of the first half was dominated by some spirited midfield play, giving both goalkeepers and easy time.
At half time the score remained in favour of the Algerians.
Missed opportunities for the Algerians and some physical play by Zambia characterised much of the second half. The referee gave frequent warnings to the Zambians to ease up.
But in the 73rd minute the Algerians sealed the result with this goal, scored by substitute Ighili.
