- Story Text: Libyan rebel fighters and their families got a first hand view of the luxurious apartments of fugitive Muammar Gaddafi's daughter Aisha at his compound in Tripoli on Friday (August 26).
Children splashed around in Aisha's private pool as women scrutinised the interior decoration of her apartment.
Men made themselves comfortable on her sofas while young men chanted slogans in her main hallway.
Rebel fighters overran the veteran leader's fortified compound in the capital Tripoli on Tuesday (August 24) but the whereabouts of Gaddafi and his family was not known.
Many of those seeing the opulent style in which Aisha was accustomed to live were angry at the discrepancy between her riches and the life of poor Libyans.
A man who identified himself as Mohammed said it was only right that Aisha's house now belonged to the Libyan people.
"This is the property of the Libyan people. They (Libyans) have been living in poverty for the last 42 years and he (Gaddafi) has been living in luxury. This all belongs to the Libyan people," said Mohammed.
A woman who gave her name as Selma said it was apparent that Gaddafi had duped his people.
"We have realized that it was a big lie. They (Gaddafi and his family) lied to us when they said they are on the side of their people and when they said that the Libyans own their resources. They are living in luxury and we do not even have salaries," said Selma.
A woman who said she was the daughter of Libya's leader said on loyalist television channel Al Orouba on Wednesday (August 25) that Libyans must unite against NATO and stand by Muammar Gaddafi in the face of foreign interference.
