- Story Text: Stars Carey Mulligan and Guy Pearce hit downtown San Diego to discuss their upcoming films at the Comic Con convention.
Stars Carey Mulligan and Guy Pearce hit the red carpet in downtown San Diego to talk about their respective upcoming films under the glare of the spotlight at this years Comic Con convention.
The four-day event, which kicked off on Thursday (July 21), has grown from its humble beginnings into a major Hollywood event.
Mulligan joined director Nicolas Winding Refn to help promote "Drive," which also stars Ryan Gosling as a risk taking but talented driver, who gets in over his head. The actress told Reuters that she jumped at the chance of working with Refn.
"Mainly, with this it was Nicholas Refn, who was the director," said Mulligan. "I have seen all of his work and have loved all of his stuff. I found out he was making a film and just sort of begged my way into it."
The event, which tool place at the downtown Hard Rock Hotel, drew a crowd of Comic Con convention goers, which gave the red carpet a Madri Gras feel.
"It was mad and it was crazy," explained Refn, on his first time reaction to Comic Con's circus like atmosphere. "I'm amazed that there are people left in the United States. I thought they all came here."
Actor Guy Pearce also joined his director Troy Nixey at the event to help promote their drama/horror flick, "Don't be Afraid of the Dark."
In the film, Pearce plays a sympathetic, but inherently flawed father, who is forced to deal to deal with para-normal activity.

Guilllermo del Toro helped write the film's screenplay and is acting as a producer on the project.
