- Story Text: Turkey's Besiktas departed for Britain on Monday
(Sahead of their Champions League Group H match on Tuesday
with Leeds United.
Besiktas of Istanbul departed from Ataturk airport to
Leeds for Champions League Group H match on Tuesday against
Britain's Leeds United. Group H is a dead heat, with each
member holding three points.
Tight security is expected for both legs of the match,
after two Leeds supporters were stabbed to death in street
clashes in Istanbul last April before a UEFA Cup match with
Turkey's Galatasaray.
Kaynar also said that Leeds United and Besiktas will link
fans from both countries, and that Besiktas needed to win to
make it out of a tight race in its group.
Besiktas has won 3 consecutive games consecutivly since
suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat to AC Milan, and upset
powerful Barcelona 3-0 in Istanbul last week, when Leeds
downed AC Milan 1-0 on the road. Besiktas is entering the
match at full strength.
