- Story Text: Temperatures has dropped to ten degrees below zero
centigrade (minus 3 Fahrenheit) atop the Brocken Mountain in
the eastern German Harz region and a coat of snow and ice
covered the entire region.
The mountain, at 1,142 metres above sea level, is the
highest in the region and often experiences brutal storms and
extreme weather conditions.
On Friday (December 14), the area was covered with snow and
ice, turning it into a winter wonderland for children and
animals alike.
For other fans of winter weather it was a chance to get
away from daily stresses and enjoy a peaceful walk in the
woods.
