- Story Text: INTRO: Images from the world's battles over the last 200 years have been conjured up by military enthusiasts who converged on Russia's second city of St Petersburg for a colourful parade and displays marking the start of a historical festival.
----------------------------------------------------------------- Four hundred people dressed in military costumes marched through the centre of St. Petersburg in a colourful procession on Friday (July 12) marking the beginning of the festival.
History enthusiasts from Russia, Norway, France, Belgium and Finland, all members of historical clubs in their countries, dressed in military outfits of the nineteenth century and marched from Palace Square to the equestrian statue of Peter the Great.
The march was arranged as part of festivities to mark the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy this year.
St. Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great in the end of seventeenth century, used to be Russia's largest sea port.
