- Story Text: A record-breaking 1,028 pairs of twins gathered in Taiwan on Saturday (May 20) to mark the visit of Japan's celebrity centenarian twin sisters, Kin Narita and Gin Yanie -- and claim an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
An organiser from the Taichung flower theme park which invited the 102-year-old Japanese sisters, known as Kin and Gin (Gold and Silver) said that Guinness officials had confirmed the meeting set a new Guinness record for a gathering of twins.
The 1,027 pairs of Taiwanese twins were aged from one-month-old babies to 93-year-old brothers, Hou Huo-shan (mountain) and Hou Huo-chuan (river).
At a dragon dance ceremony to open a radio station in Taichung, the 93-year-old brothers were seated next to Kin and Gin.
Wearing kimonos and appearing in good health, Kin and Gin greeted the brothers in Chinese and chatted with them in Japanese.
Hou Huo-chuan was so excited that he cried Kin Narita and Gin Yanie were born in Nagoya, central Japan, in 1892. They have 10 children, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
