- Summary: 1. GV TILT UP Building 0.08 2. SV ZOOM INTO SCU Hammami interviewed 2.05 QUESTION: "Mr. Hammami, can you tell me your reaction to the latest hijacking and killings in rems and Athens?" HAMMAMI: "I,m appalled. I'm very appalled, very angry and very suspicious." QUESTION: "The PLO has already denied responsibility. Have you any idea who, in fact, is responsible?" HAMMAMI: "I think we must wait for then to be captured. They must be captured, somewhere, sometime, musn't they? And after that there must be interrogation. I don't know them. I don't know who they are. But I am sure that they are enemies of the Palestinian people." QUESTION: "And you would like to see them captured and interrogated...?" HAMMAMI: "Yes, because killing innocent people the way they have done yesterday cannot be at all to the advantage of the Palestinian people." QUESTION: "Is there any other action that both your movement, the PLO, and the Arab states can take to curb this kind of activity?" HAMMAMI: "Well, we've been trying our best. I mean the Palestine Liberation Organization has been trying its best since the Munich incident last year. And we could foil many attempts. We didn't say that, we didn't declare that, but we did. But no-one could... I mean the Italians could;t. It's really very appalling. I mean every Palestinian, I myself, are really very much ashamed to see Palestinians killing innocent people the way those people done yesterday." QUESTION: "What sort of effect do you think this will have on the Geneva peace conference?" HAMMAMI: "I hope it won't have...I mean I hope things get going. I hope the conference will take place and I hope the people will invite the Palestinians to come and participate, because the question of Palestine will be the most important issue -- should be the most important issue. I hope this won't be taken by the Israelis as an excuse to say: 'Well, no negotiations new; no peace now; no talks new.' I hope this won't happen." - Story Text: The Arab guerrilla massacre at Rome airport and subsequent hijacking has been denounced by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which has disclaimed any responsibility for the latest terror outrage. In London, PLO spokesman Mr. Said Hammami declared that the Killings had been carried out by "Enemies of the Palestinian people".
But Mr. Rammami was unable to be more specific about the identities of the men responsible for the new atrocities. But in an interview with Visnews reporter Tony Hull he declared that he hoped that they would be brought to justice and that their efforts would not spoil the current initiatives for a Middle East peace:
