- Story Text: Tottenham Hotspur said late on Saturday (October 25) they've sacked manager Juande Ramos.
A short time later Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp confirmed he's agreed to take over.
Spurs are bottom of the league with just two points from eight matches having made their worst ever start to a league season under Spaniard Ramos, who took over one year ago.
Ramos, whose assistant Gus Poyet has also been dismissed, had replaced Martin Jol after the Dutchman was sacked last year despite two consecutive fifth place finishes in the league.
The former Sevilla coach made a good start to his Tottenham career, winning last year's League Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley, Tottenham's first silverware for nearly a decade.
But this year's league position has put him under immense pressure.
Spurs said on their website that they've been given permission to talk to Redknapp about taking Ramos' place.
Redknapp later told Sky News he had agreed to the move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs, four points adrift at the foot of the table, play Bolton Wanderers at home on Sunday (October 26) when reserve team coach Clive Allen and youth team manager Alex Inglethorpe will be in charge.
Spurs sold Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane in the close season, their two main strikers, and new signings such as Luca Modric, David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko have struggled. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
