- Story Text: The Basketball Without Borders organisation is holding
joint training sessions for Turkish and Greek children in
Istanbul.
Famous Turkish and Greek basketball players including
NBA stars came together in Istanbul on Friday (July 5) to
coach around 50 children.
The players included Hidayet 'Hedo' Turkoglu and Predrag
'Peja' Stojakovic of the Sacramento Kings; Iakovos 'Jake'
Tsakalidis from the Phoenix Suns; and Memphis Grizzlies'
Antonis 'Tony' Fotsis.
Stojakovic said basketball had the power to motivate all
children.
Turkoglu said the players were doing their part for better
relations between Turkey and Greece so the politicians should
do theirs.
A 14-year-old Greek player, Theodoros Tzanis,said: "It is
great. We are playing with the best players of the world."
The Basketball Without Borders summer camp is being held
in conjunction with the Turkish and Hellenic basketball
federations and the international group, FIBA and will last
three days.
