- Story Text: An aircraft belonging to a German aid organisation has
landed at Baghdad's newly reopened international
airport despite an overall flight ban as part of United
Nations sanctions following the 1991 Gulf War.
The German plane, belonging to arrived in Baghdad on
Sunday, which took off from Baghdad International Airport,
about four hours after it had landed, picked up a sick Swedish
man for treatment in Izmir, Turkey. The Swedish man was in
Iraq with his wife and son. There was no information
available to say who they are or why they are living in Iraq.
There was also no medical information available to say what is
wrong with the man.
Baghdad International Airport on Thursday after 10 years
of enforced closure.
