- Story Text: A Beverly Hills judge on Monday (May 24) ordered actress Lindsay Lohan to undergo random drug and alcohol testing and wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet after missing a probation hearing last week in a 2007 drunken driving case.
Judge Marsha Revel also said that Lohan, 23, had violated her probation, and the judge scheduled a new hearing in July to determine possible further sanctions.
Lohan, who agreed to the conditions, claimed she lost her passport in France last week, preventing an earlier return to Los Angeles for the May 20 hearing she missed.
As Lohan left the courthouse on Monday, she had already been fitted with the bracelet, said Los Angeles Superior Court Spokesperson, Allan Parachini.
"As you saw her leaving here, the SCRAM bracelet had been installed by the company that provides that service...Well it stands for Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor and it's a device that senses through the skin when a person has been drinking and then downloads that information via modem that you keep at your home to the company's central server," said Parachini.
Judge Revel said the "Mean Girls" actress has failed to complete alcohol education classes imposed as part of a 2007 sentence for reckless driving, drunken driving and driving under the influence of cocaine. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
