- Title: UNITED KINGDOM: BOXING - David Haye and Dereck Chisora on their best behaviour at a press conference to promote their grudge fight
- Date: 12th July 2012
- Summary: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JULY 11, 2012) (REUTERS) DAVID HAYE AND DERECK CHISORA AT PRESS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (English) DAVID HAYE SAYING: "He's getting knocked out quick. When we first started training myself and Adam (Booth) believed it would go into the second half of the fight, we really did, we really thought that with his particular style what he does, he'll get into the second part of the fight and we'll have to push it down the home straight. I'd be really surprised, I'm hoping he does, I'm hoping that is the case but if he does what I'm hoping he's going to do then he's just going to work into my hands more. The harder he comes the quicker he's going to get KO'd (knocked out) and I'm looking forward to it." PRESS (SOUNDBITE) (English) DAVID HAYE SAYING: "Unfortunately for Dereck he's fighting me, he's fighting the best. I believe you will see the best ever 'Hayemaker' on Saturday night." PRESS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (English) DERECK CHISORA SAYING: "I'm excited about the fight, you know David Haye says the best 'Hayemaker' is going to come in the ring and that's going to be great for me, because I'm going to be the craziest I've ever come in the ring anyway, so I don't care." PRESS (SOUNDBITE) (English) DERECK CHISORA SAYING: "Me and David are going to give the fans a great fight, I've always been a forward fighter, David has always been a back-pedaller so nothing is going to change. David is not going to come forward and I'm always going to be pushing him so it's going to be a great fight." PHOTO BEING TAKEN ON MOBILE PHONE (SOUNDBITE) (English) DERECK CHISORA SAYING: "Do I regret him hitting me with a sucker punch? No, fair-do's, but the fight is on now I, don't care, let's get it on." - Story Text: David Haye and Dereck Chisora were on their best behaviour at a press conference on Wednesday (July 11) to promote their fight at West Ham United's Upton Park stadium on Saturday (July 14).
The pair were involved in a brawl at a news conference in Munich following Chisora's defeat by WBC world heavyweight title holder Vitali Klitschko in February and neither holds a British licence so the bout is being sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.
Haye, who retired last October after losing his losing his WBA world title to Wladimir Klitschko, said he was certain he would beat Zimbabwe-born Chisora.
"He's getting knocked out quick," he said. "The harder he comes the quicker he's going to get KO'd (knocked out) and I'm looking forward to it.
"Unfortunately for Dereck he's fighting me, he's fighting the best. I believe you will see the best ever 'Hayemaker' on Saturday night."
Chisora, who had his licence withdrawn by the BBBC (British Boxing Board of Control) in March following the brawl, said he was going to put on a 'crazy' fight.
"I'm excited about the fight, you know David Haye says the best 'Hayemaker' is going to come in the ring and that's going to be great for me, because I'm going to be the craziest I've ever come in the ring anyway, so I don't care," he said.
"Me and David are going to give the fans a great fight, I've always been a forward fighter, David has always been a back-pedaller so nothing is going to change. David is not going to come forward and I'm always going to be pushing him so it's going to be a great fight."
Chisora said he had put the pair's altercation behind him and was just looking forward to meeting Haye in the ring.
"Do I regret him hitting me with a sucker punch? No, fair-do's, but the fight is on now I, don't care, let's get it on," he said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
