- Story Text:A thousand members of the Spanish police have been deployed in Madrid on Wednesday (April 12) ahead of the Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Leicester City at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
European soccer authority UEFA said it was reviewing security for Wednesday's Champions League matches after the attack on Tuesday (April 11) on the Borussia Dortmund's team bus and would increase measures if necessary.
Almost three thousand Leicester fans have travelled to the Spanish capital for the match ahead of the Easter weekend. On Tuesday night Leicester fans clashed with police in the central Plaza Mayor. Eight Leicester supporters were detained and three police and two fans experienced minor injuries.
The security hike also coincides with the anti-terror measures put in place ahead of the Easter weekend celebrations.
Fans attending the match on Wednesday said they were not afraid after the attack in Germany. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
