The height of the pyramid is about 100 metres, which is about 300 feet, and it's just slightly lower than pyramid in Gissa in Egypt, but probably much higher than most pyramids in Mexico and Peru and some other countries. So I would say this is one of the most important cultural treasures in Europe. So I'm really glad we found it here in Bosnia." VIEW FROM THE TOP OF THE VISOCICA HILL VARIOUS OF VISOKO VALLEY

- Story Text: A Bosnian scientist has claimed to have discovered the remains of a pyramid dating back several thousand years the hills of central Bosnia.
Semir Osmanagic, a Sarajevo-born researcher of ancient civilisations, said on Monday (24 October) that the Visocica hill, some 30 km (18 miles) north of Sarajevo, was a pyramid built by ancestors of Illiryans, the first known inhabitants of the Balkans.
Osmanagic, who lives in the United States and has published a nine-volume "Alternative Histories", and has researched pyramids in Central and South America, believes that ancient Illiryans had lived in the region as early as 27,000 years ago. Osmanagic claims that the top of the 700-metre high Visocica hill was formed in ancient times by the civilisation.
"We have total of three spots where we do archaeological diggings. This is one of them and we have two more. What we want to prove is that this is all man-made," said Osmanagic from Visocica hill. Geological digs 17 metres below the surface of the hill, by Osmanagic and his team last August, found layers of sand-stone slabs which were apparently foreign to the area. The hill leads into a valley where the town of Visoko is situated. German researchers have found the traces of civilisation from 7,000 B.C. in the valley.
"This three spots will prove that this Bosnian pyramid of Sun, how we called it, is one of the largest pyramids in the world. The height of the pyramid is about 100 metres, which is about 300 feet, and it's just slightly lower than pyramid in Gissa in Egypt, but probably much higher than most pyramids in Mexico and Peru and some other countries," said Osmanagic. "So I would say this is one of the most important cultural treasures in Europe. So I'm really glad we found it here in Bosnia."
Osmanagic said that he after he finishes the archaeological dig at Visocica, he will conduct aerial and satellite screenings, as well as underground radar screening, over in the next five years.
