- Story Text: Residents in the eastern-Ukrainian town of Kramatorsk say that Ukrainian troops opened fire on Sunday (May 18) on residential buildings, and wounded a woman who worked at a small shop near a local bus stop.
"The Ukrainian army shot mortars and howitzers at residential quarters, and also, snipers are shooting at civilians and armed people and everybody that they see. It's a miracle that nobody died. At this station there was a girl who lived," said a masked man carrying a rifle, who did not give his name.
"We heard everything and our people went past. There was a woman close to the stall who survived. They brought her to the emergency room. Honestly, it's my opinion, that our Ukrainian government didn't act properly in sending the Ukrainian army against its own people," said Vladimir, a Kramtorsk resident.
According to Russian media reports, the shooting started Sunday afternoon on the outskirts of the city, where they said national guard troops attacked separatist-controlled checkpoints.
