- Story Text:A country's spending on development aid and on defence are separate items, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday (March 31), responding to German comments about NATO's target for increasing military budgets.
German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said on Friday that NATO's agreed target spend of two percent of members' yearly economic output was neither "reachable nor desirable" countering a call by U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for all allies to comply and quickly.
Gabriel added that other spending, such as development aid, should be taken into consideration. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
