- Story Text: INTRO: The Serb member of Bosnia's new three-man presidency, who sparked an angry reaction by boycotting its ceremonial first meeting, now says he is prepared to cooperate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Momcilo Krajisnik, the Bosnian-Serb member of Bosnia's new three-man presidency, stayed away from last Saturday's (October 5) first meeting in Sarajevo of the collective presidency and the United States (U.S.) threatened new sanctions unless the Bosnian Serbs agreed to comply with the Dayton peace accords.
On Tuesday, Krajisnik said he was ready to sign a declaration pledging to defend the constitution of post-war Bosnia and would recommend Serb members of Bosnia's newly-elected assembly to do the same.
"I have the intention that I should send this to the other representatives of the assembly and, if they agree, that we should sign it at a ceremony," he said The declaration was signed on Saturday by the Moslem and Croat members of the three-person presidency.
Foreign dignitaries waited more than three hours on Saturday for Serb representatives to appear at the ceremony in Sarajevo, but they failed to show up.
Meanwhile, Bosnian government investigators exhumed sixteen bodies from an alleged mass grave site at Ahatovici near Sarajevo on Tuesday.
The team began working at the site on Monday and dug up the first of the bodies today. Sixteen bodies were dug up in total.
They are thought to be the bodies of Bosnian civilians killed during fighting in July 1992.
The chief investigator Dr Ilijas Dobraca said that they managed to exhume the bodies and the process of identification will take place over the next few days.
Family members gathered at the site to watch the exhumation amid tearful scenes.
