- Story Text: Cosmonauts aboard Russia's Mir space station held a news conference from aboard their home in orbit on Tuesday (October 25) to discuss their joint Russian-European space agencies mission.
Before the television link-up took place, reporters were briefed on the mission to date.
The cosmonauts have experienced power shortage problems during the flight. The space station suffered a major power malfunction on October 11 which stopped several medical experiments.
Space Control Centre deputy commander Viktor Blagov said the problems were resolved two days later and the experiments restored.
German scientist Ulf Merbold said he was using the mission to investigate the effect of extreme conditions on the human senses.
He said some of his findings would be very useful in treating various diseases.
The only female member of the crew, Elena Kondakova, said she had difficulty adjusting to space flight in the first few days of the mission, but she had adapted.
