- Story Text: The Bosnian Serb army (BSA) has accused Bosnian government troops of violating a ceasefire on the Bihac-Krupa front and in the Doboj region. The BSA claimed on Wednesday (February 1) that the Moslem Fifth Corps had opened artillery and infantry fire on Serb defence lines in the region.
At the same time, Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic sent a letter on Wednesday to Yasushi Akashi, the United Nations (UN) special envoy to the former Yugoslavia, saying that his Moslem-led government was prepared to take action if the UN failed to force Krajina Serbs to halt attacks in the Bihac enclave in northwest Bosnia.
Bosnian government radio, broadcasting from Sarajevo late on Wednesday, reported artillery and tank attacks north of the pocket near Velika Kladusa, but a UN spokesman said the area was quiet.
Liutenant-General Rupert Smith, commander of the UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) in Bosnia, plans to visit Bihac later this week to try again to secure a local truce, the U.N. spokesman said.
