- Story Text: About a thousand disgruntled Russian investors took to the streets of Moscow on Friday (October 21) in protest at the Russian government's attitude towards investment companies.
Most of the demonstators were middle-aged shareholders in investment companies such as MMM or Tibet.
The demonstrators complained that the directors of Russia's many investment companies were cheating their investors, taking their money and then closing down without paying out dividends and the government is doing nothing to protect them.
They demanded that Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin set up a commission to regulate such companies and return the money that millions of Russians have lost.
