- Story Text: INTRO: A top U.S. official in Yugoslavia has blamed the Republika Sprska for the postponement of municipal elections in Bosnia.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- United States special envoy John Kornblum spoke on Thursday (August 29) after holding talks with Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic on the upcoming Bosnian elections.
Kornblum said the Bosnian Serb entity, known as Republika Sprska, bore the blame for the postponement of Bosnia's municipal elections.
He said that the only future the Republika Srpska could hope to have lies in cooperating with other entities in Bosnia, and that anything else is "unrealistic." Kornblum said he had told Milosevic that the elections should be fair.
The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which is overseeing the first post-war poll in Bosnia, said on Tuesday (August 27) that problems with voter registration in all parts of Bosnia meant it was "not feasible" to go ahead with the municipal level of elections, but insisted the other national and regional levels of the September 14 vote would take place.
