- Story Text: Sporting Lisbon beat Paris St Germain 2-1 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday (July 19).
Sporting, runners-up in last season's Portuguese championship, opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, when midfielder Pedro Martins, unmarked at the right post, headed home a cross from defender Luis Miguel.
Their second came in the 44th minute when a shot from Moroccan midfielder Mustapha Hadji deflected off French defender Bruno Ngotty just out of reach of goalkeeper Cristophe Revault.
When Sporting striker Ivaylo Iordanov was brought down in the penalty area a few minutes later his captain, Oceano Cruz, stepped up to the spot -- but the shot was saved by Revault.
St Germain, coached by former Benfica defender Ricardo Gomes from Brazil, managed a consolation goal through newly-signed Florian Maurice, when he slotted home a rebound off the bar.
