- Story Text: Hong Kong's World Cup hopes have suffered a blow after Thailand beat them 2-0 in their second qualifying match on Sunday (March 9).
Hong Kong had gone into the game with high hopes after the Thais lost their opening match to South Korea.
The game was played in intense heat and the Thais had the upper hand throughout the match, outpacing the Hong Kong team.
Thailand opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal from Kritsada Plandit. Natipong Sritong sealed the game with a 78th minute goal.
Hong Kong lost their opening match to South Korea and will meet Thailand again in Hong Kong on March 30.
