  • Story Text: Italy's local and regional election in Italy moved into their last day of campaigning on Friday. The previous evening Giorgio Almirante, leader of the neo-fascist M.SI. would up his campaign in Rome at a meeting at Piazza del Popolo. He reiterated his party's opposition to the communists having any role in government and called for increased vigilance against left wing violence. Despite the fact that the election is for local bodies the campaign has been fought on national issues mainly on the Christian Democrats' almost thirty years of unbroken dominance.
