- Story Text: INTRO: Russia scored a 2-1 victory over Finland on the second day of the international Baltika Hockey Tournament.
Russia's win came after a disappointing first day 0-0 draw against Sweden.
Russia moved into first place with victory on Thursday (December 18), staying ahead of rivals Finland, Sweden and Czech Republic.
The Baltika Cup, renamed only this year to honour its new main sponsor, Russia's Baltika Brewery, is in its 30th year and is part of the Euro Hockey Tour. It was previously known as the Izvestia Tournament.
All players will have a rest day on Friday before Saturday's (December 20) second-to-last day when Sweden will take on Finland and Russia meet the Czech Republic.
Thursday's match was played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium to an estimated crowd of 2400 spectators, the weekend's play was expected to draw larger crowds.
