- Story Text: International boxing came to Ghana, one of Africa's strongest boxing nations, on Wednesday (March 5) when the national team entertained a squad of East Germans. The bouts ranged from the lightweights to the heavyweights and the partisan crowd of Ghanaians who packed Accra's main stadium were given a good night's entertainment.
The final result was seven bouts to three in favour of East Germany. Four other route bouts were held but they didn't count in the overall result. East Germany won all of them.
The East Germans arrived from Mali where they had beaten a local squad. The visitors were obviously well in form while the Ghanaian boxers were still finding their feet.
In fact many of the locals didn't find their feet at all... the majority of bouts ended in knockouts in favour of the East Germans.
