- Story Text: A late winter snowstorm has dropped several centimetres
of snow on Bavaria overnight.
Though the calendar says it is the first week of
Spring, a storm system swept through the Alpine region
early Thursday (March 25), bringing snow and hazardous
conditions for motorists.
Fog and freezing temperatures hindered drivers in the
early morning hours but conditions improved as the snow
melted, leaving autobahns wet.
In Austria, more than one metre of new snow has forced
authorities to warn skiers that avalanches may occur in
some recreational areas in the Alps.
