- Title: France's Melenchon to use holograms for simultaneous rallies in seven cities
- Date: 18th April 2017
- Summary: SCREENS DIVIDED UP INTO DIFFERENT WINDOWS SHOWING PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FOR MELENCHON AND DIFFERENT CAMERA ANGLES (SOUNDBITE) (French) CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF ADRENALINE STUDIO, SEBASTIEN MIZERMONT, SAYING: "Thanks to the light, the stage and the decoration, people who will discover it (the hologram) will... it is set to be on a human scale, so they will have the impression of having a real person in front of them and we will gather all of Jean-Luc Melenchon's aura and presence. Having already done it in Paris, as soon as he appeared people were standing up, clapping. At first there is the magical side of the hologram which will be 'wow' and then after five minutes you forget it is a hologram and people will react to the debate. That's where it gets interesting for a politician."

- Story Text:One night, seven rallies, one presidential candidate.
Far-left firebrand Jean-Luc Melenchon will hold seven rallies in different cities on Tuesday (April 18) using a 3D hologram of him making his speech so he can address supporters simultaneously in Nantes, Montpellier, Nancy, Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrant, the Indian Ocean island of the Reunion, and in Dijon where he will address supporters in the flesh.
Adrenaline Studio is behind the magic trick which is produced by projecting an image beamed via satellite from Dijon to a transparent screen on all six other stages, giving the impression of Melenchon in 3D, even though it is two-dimensional.
Melenchon already used the technology during the launch of his presidential campaign in Lyon, projecting his image to an audience in the Parisian suburb of Aubervilliers.
Just a few days from the first round of the French presidential Election, an Ifop-Fiducial poll on Tuesday placed Jean-Luc Melenchon on 19 percent, meaning he is chasing the heels of conservative candidate Francois Fillon on 19.5 percent. Independent centrist Emmanuel Macron remains the front runner with 23.5 percent, followed by far-right candidate Marine Le Pen on 22.5 percent.
Melenchon is not the first politician to employ such technology. In 2014, then-Turkish prime minister and now President Tayyip Erdogan used a hologram of himself to attract wider support. And India's Narendra Modi trounced the opposition with a campaign that included holograms of his speeches in villages across the country.
But for Sebastien Miziermont, who is creative director at Adrenaline Studio, Melenchon is the first political figure to use a hologram on such a wide scale. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
