- Story Text: After almost 36 hours in central of the Japan Air Lines jumbo jet, the armed hijackers demanded -- and get -- air conditioning for the 'plane, parked in the runway at Dubai airport.'
Rigid security sealed off the entire airport, where the hijackers directed the plane after taking it ever in the skies above Holland on Friday (20 July).
The air conditioning truck went out to the 'plane on Saturday morning (21 July) after the 140 passengers aboard had been sitting in the blazing heat of the desert airport for a day. Meals had already been provided and the airport authorities supplied floodlighting when the hijackers demanded it, though they have refused to refuel the plane.
The pre-Palestine hijackers, who have still not been positively identified, had refused, up until Sunday evening, to enter into any negotiations until they received orders from their headquarters.
An earlier report of a demand for 5 million dollars U.S. was later denied.
This exclusive Visnews film shows views of airport security and soldiers involved, as well as a view of the air-conditioning being attached to the aircraft, with one of the hijackers out on the tarmac supervising.
