For me, the problem is not the security of the Antique Dealers show, my problem is the management and there, it is a very technical point." 1.11 10. - Story Text: Two diamonds worth together over 11 million euros
(13'53 million U.S. dollars) have disappeared from an
antique dealer's show at the Louvre.
Two diamonds estimated to be worth more
than 11 million euros (13.53 U.S. million dollars) were
stolen from an antique dealers show on Monday (September 27).
Caroline Scheufele-Gruosi, Co-President of Chopard,
denied that the person manning the stand was absent and
said : "I arrived from Geneva to visit the Antique Dealers
show and all my team was in the stand when it happened, so
altogether four people and two persons from the security.
The thieves were professionals, they held up the display
window and left very quickly."
Police said a glass case holding the jewels was forced
open in mid-afternoon during the show.
One was a white diamond of 47 carats estimated at 6
million euros and the other a blue diamond of 15.74 carats
worth 5.5 million euros.
"There was neither any alarm system nor any
surveillance camera," a police spokesman said. "The
employee of the jewellery shop displaying the diamonds was
apparently absent for about 15 minutes," he said.
The diamonds were on show in a hall in the
underground shopping arcade at the Louvre, outside the
museum's art galleries.
