- Story Text: The Republic of Zaire's new ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr. Theodore Idzumbuir, went to Buckingham Palace at noon today (March 3) to present his letters of appointment. In the absence of Queen Elizabeth--at present in Borneo--the new Ambassador was received at the Palace by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret.
SYNOPSIS: Traditional ceremonial in London on Friday for a new representative of the Republic of Zaire. Mr. Theodore Idzumbuir, new Ambassador of his county to the Court of St. James, left his Embassy with all appropriate pageantry of dress and carriage for the official presentation of his letters of appointment at Buckingham Palace.
London was grey and overcast, but that didn't spoil the splendour of the mid-day drive. The Ambassador was accompanied by a party of six Embassy officials.
At the Palace Mr. Idzumbuir was received by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and by Princess Margaret, acting as Councillors of State in the absence of the Queen--at present in Borneo. Yesterday the new Ambassador told reporters that relations between his country and Britain were improving. He pointed to growing trade between the two countries in recent years.
