- Story Text: Trucks loaded with food aid have arrived in Baghdad
from Jordan as humanitarian agencies step up the flow of aid
into Iraq.
International organisations believe medical supplies
are a priority at this stage in Iraq, as at least 50 trucks
loaded with food aid arrived to the country's capital from
Jordan on Sunday (April 20).
One of the truck drivers said the supplies have been sent
by the United Nations World Food Programme.
Aid agencies are also stocking up on food supplies,
fearing that any further unrest in Iraq could lead to more
suffering.
While the political situation in Baghdad remains confused,
with several politicians claiming to be members of a new
cabinet, the U.S. military were protecting the United Nations
building in the Iraqi capital.
