- Story Text: 1971 is the 100th anniversary year since the foundation in 1871. They started producing combs out of caoutchouc and wheels for Equipagen, later medicine articles. On the ground of Mr. Magnus founder 100 years ago developed the main factory building is still there. Formally named Continental Compagnie & Gutta Percha compagnie is now named as Continental. From few products from the founder days more than 15 000 different products has been developed there. They started with 246 workers didn't stopped working during 1st and 2nd war and are working our days with more then 28 000 people. More then 22 % of the workers are guestworkers. 8 own factories producing products In 130 countries these products are sold. In 1873 they got the 1st patent on how making wheels out of gum. firstly for bicycles then for the 1st cars and later in 1903 for the first tests for aeroplanes. Today production goes from wheels for babycars up to wheels for Jumbo-Jets. in this 100 years they made all the tests for racing cars planes and now since 1953 they testing like other wheels factories how to make wheels out of plastic. Conti were the founder and got the patent on producing tubeless wheels in 1943.
But all the success in producing top quality they never stop testing there own productions and trying to reform them, under this thoughts they built the Contidrom a special test course with all hard facilities under hardes circumstances. On this contidrom the 1st electronic test car drives his tours daily with it any driver. Their 2nd main production of today is the transport line for mines or earth transport like today in spanish Sahara 200 km to the coast to EL Aaiun.
On the contidrom are not only technical tests also electronics and computer tests.
The museum gives a short idea of past productions.
