- Story Text: 2,000 species of Chinese chrysanthemums went on display in Kuala Lumpur this week in the second such exhibition ever held outside of the People's Republic of China.
Organised by three Malay-Chinese firms, the 10-day exhibition features 400 rare species of chrysanthemums grown only in China. Among them are the "tree Chrysanthemums", the "??? it ???isn", and the "Black Chrysanthemums", which is grown only in Manking.
The flowers were transported from the southern Chinese port of Hwangchow in 700 ports, and they are insured for over 50,000 Malaysian dollars (over US$20,900).
all of them, however, will be destroyed after the show in accordance with the Malaysian Agricultural Department's crop protestion laws.
The last time the flowers were seen outside of China was in Hong Kong in 1973.
