- Story Text: The first Internet cafe has opened to Tikrit.
U.S. troops facilitated the opening of the first
internet cafe in Tikrit, in northern Iraq, on Saturday
(August 23).
Lieutenant Colonel D. Russell, of the U.S. First
Battalion and cafe manager Hashin Hassan cut the ribbon to
open the cafe, which is the first of its kind in Tikrit.
The cafe expects to serve 25 to 30 customers a day, and
hopes to have more customers as people learn about the
internet cafe. It costs one United States dollar to use the
equipment, which is provided by NEConnect from Dubai.
Manager Hashin Hassan said he expects no trouble or
attacks on the cafe because it is there to serve the Iraqi
people.
