- Story Text: About two thousand Serbs demonstrated in Northern
Mitrovica on Wednesday continuing protests at last Friday's
bus blast in which at least 10 Serbs, including a two-year-old
child, were killed.
In Gracanica, another Serb enclave, funeral ceremonies
were held for eight of the victims. Relatives, other mourners
and representatives from the Yugoslav government and K-for
gathered to pay their respects. The coffins were then loaded
on to k-for vehicles for transport to burial sites. Six will
be buried in Serbia and two in Kosovo - Kosovo Polje and
Lipljan.
Nobody has claimed responsibility, but Yugoslav President
Vojislav Kostunica blamed "Albanian extremists" for the
attack, saying they threatened the stability of the Balkan
region.
"The violence must be stopped. Even at this terrible
moment we are ready to start talks to stop the violence so
innocent people are not killed any more", said Momcilo
Trajkovic, Yugoslavia's representative in Kosovo.
Wednesday's demonstrators listened as speakers protested
Albanian attacks and their lack of protection in the area.
They then held a minute of silence for the victims.
