- Story Text: Kuwaiti TV has shown images of smoking debris of an intercepted scud missile they said was shot down by coalition Patriot missiles earlier on Friday (March 21).
Iraqi forces on the frontier zone with Kurdish-controlled Northern Iraq have been making defensive preparations.
On Friday (March 21) near the Kurdish village Kalak Iraqi soldiers could be seen placing mines on the road leading up to hilltop positions.
There was audio of gunfire in the area and what appeared to be a mortar round was fired and landed close to a river that marks the frontier between Kurdish controlled and Iraqi territory.
Near Um Kas in southern Iraq a group of jubilant Kurds danced in the street after hearing of American troops' rapid advance.
