- Story Text: The Malawi and West German foreign ministers signed two aid agreements in Bonn on Friday (19 November) that will provide Malawi with 5,280,000 marks (1,320,000 sterling) in technical and capital aid.
SYNOPSIS: The agreements were signed in a formal ceremony at the West German foreign ministry.
Dick Tennyson Matenje, the Malawi foreign minister, headed his country's delegation.
Mr Matenje is on a ten day visit to West Germany. He signed the agreements with West German foreign ministry state secretary, Walter Gehloff.
Most of the money has already been earmarked for the technical supervision and maintenance of Malawi roads. West Germany has provided about 25 million marks (over six million sterling) for highway projects in Malawi in recent years.
