- Story Text: Portugal's policy-making Council of the Revolution met at the Belem Presidential Palace on Monday (8 September) as Premier-designate, Admiral Jose Pinheiro de Azevedo continued his efforts to form a government.
It was the first meeting of the Armed Forces' supreme body since pro-Communist ex-Premier, General Vasco Goncalves was ousted from power on Friday (5 September).
Monday's meeting followed weekend talks between Admiral de Azevedo and President Francisco Costa Gomes and leaders of Portugal's major political parties.
A Presidential spokesman said it's expected that talks will continue for several days before a new government is formed.
