- Story Text: A passenger jet has made an emergency landing in a
field near Munich airport after the pilot reported problems
with one of the engines, but no one has been hurt,
according to police.
The Fokker 70 Austrian Airlines plane carrying
around 30 passengers landed between two and three km short
of Munich airport on Monday morning (January 5).
"Some two kilometres before its destination the pilot
reported engine problems and he then landed between the
towns of Eiting and Reisen", police spokesman Christian
Maier said at the site.
According to Maier, "the plane crashlanded in the field
and skidded about 500 metres on the snowcovered field. Due
to the pilots fabulous landing happily there were no
seriously injured or even dead."
After some confusion as to the number of wounded, an
Austrian Airlines spokeswoman in Vienna told Reuters by
telephone that no one was wounded in the crash landing.
Earlier, a German police spokesman at the site first spoke
of three lightly injured, then raised the number to four.
