- Story Text: The driver of an armoured truck has handcuffed his
co-driver and stole around 10 million euros ($8.74 million)
destined for banks across the German financial capital
Frankfurt, police have said.
The 23-year-old French driver threatened his
41-year-old colleague with a weapon as the van stopped just
outside the city on Monday (February 25), before handcuffing
him and letting in two other men, a police spokesman told
Reuters television.
They then drove to an underground car park where the three
men switched four steel cases laden with cash to another
vehicle and drove off, leaving the co-driver locked in the car
park.
The police spokesman said that he didn't have an exact figure
for the amount stolen, but said that it could be about around
10 million euros or more.
Police said they found the truck after passers-by heard
the handcuffed drivers cries for help.
