  • Story Text: United States special envoy Dr. Henry Kissinger reported to President Nixon on Thursday (14 December) on his secret talks for a Vietnam cease-fire. But there was no indication on what he told the President.

    Before leaving Paris, Dr. Kissinger told newsmen what stage the peace talks had reached and what arrangements had been made for further negotiations.

    As the U.S. envoy left, the North Vietnamese chief negotiator, Mr. Le Duc Tho, was arranging to leave for Hanoi to report to his Government, after his negotiations with Dr. Kissinger.

    SYNOPSIS: Orly Airport, in Paris, and the United States special envoy to the secret Vietnam peace talks, Doctor Henry Kissinger, leaves for Washington to report to President Nixon. There was no indication that a ceasefire accord had been reached in the secret talks with Hanoi's Mr. Le Duc Tho over the past ten days. Before he left, Dr. Kissinger told newsman...

    Later, in Washington, Dr. Kissinger brought President Nixon up to date on the talks that have been going on since December the fourth. As Dr. Kissinger left, Mr. Tho was arranging to return to Hanoi to report to his own Government. Meanwhile, at the one-hundred-and-seventieth session of the semi-public peace talks, the U.S. urged Hanoi and the Viet Cong to agree to a Christmas truce plan.
