- Summary: ROY HODGSON AND LEIGHTON BAINES, TRAINING FIELD, VALE DO LOBO, VILAMOURA, PORTUGAL (MAY 21 2014) (REUTERS) BRITISH WORLD CUP SQUAD FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE VALE DO LOBO RESORT IN THE ALGARVE. ENGLAND TEAM TRAINING ROY HODGSON ON TRAINING FIELD SOUNDBITE, (English), ROY HODGSON, SAYING: "John Stones twisted his knee, nothing serious, he could have trained. It was nice to see Phil Jones in the warm-up, he is going well and looks like he might be taking part in some footballing activities later this week. That's verypositive.Apart from John Stones we have come through totally unscathed." PHIL JONES AND JOHN STONES TRAINING APART ENGLAND TEAM TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), ROY HODGSON, SAYING: "We don't talk about relaxation, we talk about the professional job we need to do and we expect players are 100 per cent professional. 100 per cent following what we think needs to be done." ENGLAND TEAM TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), ROY HODGSON, SAYING: "They will be under a lot of scrutiny and pressure. Everyone in Italy will expect them to not only to beat us but everyone in the group. They will be expected to beat us and the other teams in our group and they will be expected to be up there amongst the favourites. That's a lot of pressure to accept. But I don't honestly think there are many teams or coaches who go into a World Cup without feeling the pressure to perform well. You don't work as hard and suffer the things we do to qualify, to then not expect not to have pressure to continue the good work." ENGLAND TEAM TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), ROY HODGSON, SAYING (ABOUT ROONEY): "He realises what a good player he is, he knows we, as a football nation, place a lot of faith in him. The eyes of England and possibly the rest of the world are on him. He will make everything he can to bring out his best qualities." ROONEY TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), ROY HODGSON, SAYING (LOUIS VAN GAAL): "I know Louis, not very well of course, but I am more than a passing acquaintance. We had a mutual friend in Rinus Michels ( former manager of Dutch national team) he introduced us in the first instance. I am obviously pleased for him. He has been asked to take on a big job and has being selected and my congratulations for that." ENGLAND TEAM TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), LEIGHTON BAINES, SAYING: "I think that Ashley brings to the table is quality and experience. It's a big vote of confidence for me and Luke. Everyone has seen the performances that Ashley has produced at an international level so leaving him out and bring me and Luke is a big vote of confidence for both of us. LEIGHTON BAINES TRAINING SOUNDBITE, (English), LEIGHTON BAINES, SAYING: "This is a real opportunity for myself but everyone will be trying to secure his place at the team. The competition is tough. If your not on your game then you will not be on the team. All on the squad will be working hard to be on the pitch." JOURNALISTS AT TRAINING SESSION

- Story Text: England coach Roy Hodgson admitted all teams would be feeling the pressure going into the World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking at the team's training camp in Portugal he said he was sure Itay would be feeling the same way the closest the teams
got the their Group D encounter in the Amazon jungle on June 14.
"I know having worked in Italy they will be under a lot of scrutiny and pressure, " he said "They will be expected to beat us and the other teams in our group, but I don't honestly think there are many teams or coaches who go into a World Cup without feeling the pressure to succeed. Anything I read or hear about other teams I take with a pinch of salt , I take it on the basis that they will have the same attitude as we have.".
England squad arrived in the south of Portugal on Monday (May 19) to start their five-day training camp at the Vale do Lobo resort. All the players trained together, with the exception of Phil Jones of Manchester United and defensive back-up John Stones of Liverpool.
"John Stones twisted his knee, nothing serious, he could have trained, " said Hodgson " It was nice to see Phil Jones in the warm-up, he is going well and looks like he might be taking part in some footballing activities later this week. At the moment things are looking good. Apart from John Stones we have come through totally unscathed."
Hodgson also had a few words for Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal, announced as the new Manchester United manager earlier in the week. "I know Louis, not very well of course, but I am more than a passing acquaintance, " he said . " We had a mutual friend in Rinus Michels ( former manager of Dutch national team) he introduced us in the first instance. I am obviously pleased for him. He has been asked to take on a big job and has being selected and my congratulations for that."
Defender Leighton Baines has a lot of eyes on him. After being chosen over veteran Ashley Cole, he took time to pay tribute to the absent Chelsea full-back. Southampton's 18-year-old Luke Shaw is the other left-back selected in the squad "I think that Ashley brings to the table is quality and experience, " he said.. It's a big vote of confidence for me and Luke. Everyone has seen the performances that Ashley has produced at an international level so leaving him out and bring me and Luke is a big vote of confidence for both of us."
