So I was very nervous coming here. But I had a great experience the year before and I mean it was rainy and windy, but just being able to play amongst the professionals was great. And there are obviously a lot of special memories from last year and I can't believe it's already been a year since I turned pro and ten months since that time when I won. So I'm very excited to be back and I just can't wait for the Thursday to come. Hopefully I will have some good results." I was fighting an injury and I had broken three bones in my left wrist. I came back a little bit too early and I think that's the main reason why I took my time this year to really focus on my health and get better. That's the thing with golf, you're going to have good years, you're going to have bad years. I think you just have to just kind of go with the flow you know, work hard and never stop believing in yourself and it just comes back in waves." - Story Text: Six of the world's top female golfers on Tuesday (October 28) attended a news conference in Taipei ahead of 2014 LPGA Taiwan Championship
German Sandra Gal, Lydia Ko of New Zealand and American golfer Michelle Wie, along with other three players, showed up on Tuesday afternoon at Taiwan's iconic 101 Tower.
Ko, born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in New Zealand, was the top-ranked female amateur in the world for more than two years prior to turning professional at her age of 17 last October, just before the Taiwan Championship.
"It was only my second week after turning professional, you know playing tournaments. Hopefully I will have some good results," Ko said.
Michelle Wie, the 24-year-old from Hawaii, has been playing in the Women's Open since 2003.
She has been in the public eye for more than a decade. In 2004, she came within one stroke of making the cut against the men on the PGA Tour at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Injuries and a stint at university temporarily halted her march to LPGA dominance, but she remains determined to fulfill her immense talent.
"I had a couple of rough years. I was fighting an injury and I had broken three bones in my left wrist. I came back a little bit too early and I think that's the main reason why I took my time this year to really focus on my health and get better. That's the thing with golf, you're going to have good years, you're going to have bad years. I think you just have to just kind of go with the flow you know, work hard and never stop believing in yourself and it just comes back in waves," Wie said.
Seven of the world's top ten players will participate in the tournament, including the long-hitting Taiwan former women's world number one Yani Tseng.
The 2014 LPGA Taiwan Championship is scheduled to run from Thursday (October 30) to Sunday (November 2).
