For the last 92 years Pedro Pablo Valdenegro has been working in the same place. The 100-year-old newspaper seller is a familiar sight to pedestrians and tourists as they throng through the busy Plaza de Armas in central Santiago. He began selling newspapers in the square in front of the Moneda Palace at the age of eight -- and he's still selling. He sells about 200 copies of the newspaper a day and walks about 15 kilometres. He has three sons and fifteen grandsons and has known more than a dozen Chilean presidents and 40 mayors. He attributes his long life to never smoking or drinking and never consulting a doctor. The current Mayor of Santiago Carlos Bombal presented the oldest newspaper seller in Chile with a special diploma on his birthday.
