- Story Text: A test plane operated by Germany's Aerospace Centre (DLR) took off from Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich on Monday (April 19) to evaluate the volcanic particulate material which currently hovers above much of Europe as a cloud of ash.
DLR scientists hope to find out more about the actual spread of the volcanic particulate material and especially about the size of the particles and the concentration of those particles, according to a spokesman there.
In Berlin, German Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle told reporters that the blanket flight restrictions over Europe had "a considerable impact on the economy, that's clear.
"That's why I have installed at task force at the ministry which I asked to investigate how we can limit the impact and what else can be done," Bruederle said.
